Construction Cost: $6,371,228.88

Description: CS Construction, and Kimley Horn have teamed up with ADOT to design and construct a remarkable new Freeway Management System on Arizona’s SR101L Agua Fria Freeway. CS Construction gave the 101 a technology facelift by installing and integrating the following:

  • Creating a wide area network of Intelligent Transportation Systems devices along a 24 mile corridor of the loop 101

  • Installation of 21 IP CCTV cameras mounted on 55 foot traffic poles with raising/lowering systems that allow for servicing without the use of expensive aerial work platforms and lane closures while helping ADOT to monitor how well traffic is moving

  • Installation of a ramp metering system that helps on-ramp traffic merge with main line traffic with better spacing, which reduces the premature traffic jams caused by large platoons of vehicles entering traffic as a group

  • Installation of new dynamic message signs aimed at informing motorists of real time conditions ahead allowing often times allowing for more informed driving decisions
